Here are some very useful resources in researching pedigrees and sires:

Stallion Directory (Thoroughbred Times)

Just about anything you could want to know about a particular stallion and you can compare up to three stallions.

General Sire List (Thoroughbred Times)

For sires who stand in North America (or stood in North America if pensioned or deceased). Statistics include racing in
the United States, Canada, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, England, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy,
Japan, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates. North American data is generally updated daily.
International data generally is delayed three to four days.

Juvenile Sire List (Thoroughbred Times)

For sires who stand in North America (or stood in North America if pensioned or deceased) in the year of conception or
currently stand or last stood in North America. Statistics reflect racing performance of two-year-olds of 2008. Statistics
include racing in the United States, Canada, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, England, France, Germany, Hong
Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates. North American data is generally
updated daily. International data generally is delayed three to four days.

Freshman Sire List (Thoroughbred Times)

For sires who stand in North America (or stood in North America if pensioned or deceased) in the year of conception or
currently stand or last stood in North America. Freshman sires are those sires whose first crop of foals are
two-year-olds of 2008. Statistics reflect racing performance of two-year-olds of 2008. Statistics include racing in the
United States, Canada, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, England, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy,
Japan, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates. North American data is generally updated daily.
International data generally is delayed three to four days.

Second Crop Sire List (Thoroughbred Times)

Lifetime statistics for sires who stand in North America (or stood in North America if pensioned or deceased) or
foreign-based sires who have a minimum of 10 lifetime starters in North America. Second-crop sires are those sires
whose oldest foals are age three in 2008. Statistics include racing in the United States, Canada, Argentina, Australia,
Brazil, Chile, England, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab
Emirates. North American data is generally updated daily. International data generally is delayed three to four days.

Auction Results (Thoroughbred Times)

Hip-by-hip reports of public auctions held in the last 18 months in North America and selected auctions worldwide.
Organized by year and month.

Jockey Club Name Book

You can check the availability of a name for your thoroughbred.

Pedigree Query

Offers both free and subscription pedigree data. Free data includes five generation pedigrees, photos and progeny.
Sometimes not complete and there are some errors in data.

Sire Stats - The Ultimate Sire Guide (BRISnet) ($39.95) - contains a wealth of data on over 5,000 sires including
statistics and grading for turf, off tracks, first time starters, synthetics, average winning distance (AWD), and a stallion
production index.
